Although I'm late to the party I'm glad I started at the beginning! I relate to so many things in this very first newsletter. I'm burning inside to find passionate leaders in Construction that want to learn, implement, and CHANGE the status quo and not just complain about it. I'm excited to read more. Thank you, Matt!
Better late than never to the party Justin! We are working hard to all of what you just described. But it takes a whole community to come together to make a difference!
Problem solving in general is easily my favorite part about being in construction! Not long after I got into the industry we had forgotten to put a blockout in a stem wall for our electrical contractor. I went to the electrical sub and said “We’ve got a bit of a problem”. His response was “Listen, it’s new construction, there’s never a problem that can’t be solved, we just have to build it a bit differently now”. Great advice that I still think of often today!

Love that electrician’s attitude.
The second lesson here is to admit when a mistake is made and don’t spend energy dwelling on the mistake.
Admit the mistake was made.
Develop a recovery plan.
Execute the plan.
Move on w/ life.
