One Two Memes
A meme about a meme. The classic two-for.
I posted the below meme just a few days ago and it went viral…. Hitting 1 million views on Instagram in just a couple days.
The science of meme-making is having such an intimate understanding of the subject that you can really find those deep pain points and poke fun at them. It helps the viewer feel seen and understood.
That’s why I have seen most Construction Company’s marketing campaigns fall flat.
It usually goes 1 of 2 ways:
The business owner/ execs are doing their own marketing:
They have a deep understanding of the industry and the pain points… BUT have no clue how to actually market themselves effectively.
They don’t know what they don’t know about marketing.
They hire an industry-agnostic marketing agency or internal marketing person:
They have a good understanding of marketing tactics/ strategies… BUT have no clue about how the construction industry operates.
They don’t know what they don’t know about construction.
This is why I realized there’s a huge opportunity for an agency that has both the Construction Expertise and the Marketing-Ninja-Know-How.
I’ve been asked many times, “What business do I have in doing marketing since I’m a Construction Project Manager by trade?” I’ve found through this whole Construction Yeti project, that I’ve fallen into a space where I have both the Construction knowledge but also the knowledge in how to get attention.
So partnering with Alt.CMO to be the solution to that market void was a no-brainer.
Innovation to Attract the Next Generation
Just a little reminder on the Innovative Video project that I teamed up with Alice Leung on. The goal is to showcase a ton of new Construction Technologies, to show the Next Generation that the industry is more innovative and tech-driven than they might think. It’s not all backbreaking physical labor (although too much of that still exists).

One Article
Project Abandonments Spike
by Construction Dive
Project abandonments jumped 7% over the past month, according to Cincinnati-based ConstructConnect’s Project Stress Index, a measure of construction projects that have been paused, abandoned or have a delayed bid date.
“Right now, what is clear from the year-to-date data is a steady, rising trend in public on holds and abandonments,” Guckes told Construction Dive. “As we move through 2024 we continue to see historically elevated levels of abandonments.”
One Quote
This obviously applies to a Company’s brand.
But also is your reputation as an individual. Everything you do is brand-building or brand-destroying in some way. We should all keep that in mind as we act. (Or before we fire off that nasty angry email…)
