Innovation to Attract the Next Generation
We all know the stats and have seen the headlines…. The next generation isn’t interested in the Construction Industry… While the Boomers are in a mass exodus….
A survey by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reveals a critical aspect of this challenge: only 3% of young adults between the ages of 18 to 25 express interest in pursuing a career in construction trades, despite a majority having decided on their career paths. Many young individuals are deterred by perceptions of the physical demands and difficulty of the work. About 43% stated there is no amount of money that could entice them to consider a career in the trades. (Builder).
Well, this week I teamed up with Alice Leung on a project. The goal is to showcase a ton of new Construction Technologies, to show the Next Generation that the industry is more innovative and tech-driven than they might think. It’s not all backbreaking physical labor (although too much of that still exists).
